Gyotaku ~ Fish Printing

Immortalise your catch as wall art.

Gyotaku is the Japanese art form of printing fish. The fishermen used this technique to record their catch while they were still at sea.

When the fish is still fresh we take a print of it using semi ink, the ink is non toxic and natural so the fish flesh is unharmed, leaving it perfect to enjoy.

The print of your prized catch can be easily framed under glass or stretched onto a canvas frame for a modern aesthetic.

The process of having your catch printed is time sensitive so the sooner we receive the fish the better result we will get with the print .

If you would like your fish printed please call us on 0418 488907 for a quote and collection details.

Fish prints start from $110.00 (plus post and collection fees)

(The price will be determined by the size and variety of the fish)

We can also fillet your fish for you and return the processed fish with your gyotaku print.

We can arrange this when we collect the fish from you, we can fillet the fish and bag it ready for the freezer if you would like. Can I have the print framed? Yes, most definitely. There a many ways you can frame the print, under glass, as a stretched canvas, hanging from magnetic poster hangers.

No, well actually there is a very paint smell but this soon disappears as we complete the printing process.

After a successful print I do add some fine details by hand, this includes the eye as it doesn’t print and some fine touching up but I get as much detail as I can in the printing process

Fine art cotton rag paper with archival inks, the print is posted to you either flat or in a roll for the larger sizes.
